The collection contains two deeds conveying the property from William B. Porter, Mary Porter and Lucy Porter Ashlen to James M. Hart, 1853 August 31; a petition from James M. Hart for a mandamus to have a previous public road road worked by the road surveyor (William Kean) and not a private road through the property; Kean's reply to the petition; and an unnammed lawyer's summary of the situation with references to legal texts, the Virginia code, and previous cases, 1885.
